The Treatment

Swedish massage uses oil and long smooth strokes to move tissue fluids, kneading to relax muscles and fascia (connective tissue). Trepidations are rhythmic movements of the body and limbs to let the nervous system let go of holding patterns. Deep tissue techniques are more specific massage techniques to work with tight or injured areas to balance the body. Out of a big toolset, I pick, what is appropriate for your body.

The Deep Tissue Myth

A lot of people and spas connect with deep tissue painful and forceful manipulation of tissue, which actually damages it. Sadly, some schools just spent a few hours to teach their students, how to ram an elbow into someone's body. My training consists of 80 hours of deep tissue and 80 hours of anatomy with some of the best teachers around. I approach the work gently for lasting changes, versus a quick, painful and damaging release.

  • Office workers massaged regularly were more alert, performed better and were less stressed than those who weren't massaged.
  • Massage therapy decreased the effects of anxiety, tension, depression, pain, and itching in burn patients.
  • Abdominal surgery patients recovered more quickly after massage.
  • Premature infants who were massaged gained more weight and fared better than those who weren't.
  • Autistic children showed less erratic behavior after massage therapy.
